Hello again...

Well, it has been awhile so I thought I would share our last week with you. It has been a hard one. Really, I think it is more about having a baby and 3 year old than living in Sweden. At least for me anyways. Everyone speaks English here and people are friendly and helpful. So many people may English it may be hard to learn Swedish. We will try though.

We are considering a Swedish school for Saniya. There is a bilingual school in which she is on the waiting list. There is an English speaking school near our new apt., but I am not so excited about that. The woman that owns the apartment we are renting said with in 3 months children can understand and begin speaking in a new language. She has an 8 year old she will put in an Italian school. They are moving to Florence for a year. We signed the papers to move to our new apt yesterday. Yeah! I will have Rob put a map on of where we live now and where we will be moving. It will be really great and there is a wading pool near and lots of greenery and walks.

We are researching where to go on vacation with our 2 week window in July. The institute closes for the last 2 weeks in July. I think most people go on vacation for the entire month of July. We are contemplating a biking /camping trip around the island of Gotland, south of Stockholm. It looks fun. Are we crazy to even contemplate that? The other option is the Baltic states. This is more going city to city with a jaunt to the beach. It would be more transport related activities like planes, trains and buses. That feels like a lot of work too. Hmmmm...

We opened a bank account this week. There accounts do not give you checks. Everything is done on the internet to pay bill and such. It was kind of different! We received our person numbers (like a Social Security card) and hope to get cell phones this week.

We are out sightseeing or going on walks every weekend. I think Rob and I are exhausted and would love to stay home all day. But, it is so unrealistic with our tiny apt. and the kid combo". So this weekend we are going to either:

the Nobel museum
http://www.nobelmuseum.se/zino.aspx?lan=en-us

or the "Stadshuset" (city hall)
http://www.stockholm.se/Extern/Templates/InfoPage.aspx?id=34155

Their city hall is on the water and really incredible. It is where they hold the nobel prize awards and dinner. It is one of those tourist places that people say is worthwhile on a visit. We'll let you know!

The weather is great and I actually feel I have acclimated to the long days. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer at home. We miss everyone. Talk to ya'll soon!

Yasmiene

Great, I am always glad(?) that stress with young children transcends continental lines. That way all parents across the globe can be giving their children time outs at once... do you think that the earth would stop on its axis? Perhaps......hmmmmm
