Summer love

Can you be in love with a country? A city? Rob and I think we are in love with this place. I think it may have to do with having small children and this society is all about catering to children. But, really there are endless parks, beautiful public areas, activities and events galore. I think it is definitely the Summer love affair. Winter is different. But, we did enjoy last winter. We will see if this winter is as enchanting or it was the newness of just arriving. All this stems from Rob's current job search. It is daunting to think of moving, but feel that anywhere we go will not be as great as here. I think we will always compare every place to Sweden and it will be truly hard to leave. So far he has mentioned Boston, Seattle, S.F., Munich, and Barcelona. This is all premature, we will see what happens.

I bought a used bike. Everyday Saniya, Rowan and I bike somewhere. Usually we end up at a park or a swim area. We went swimming in the lake by our house on Tuesday. Great to swim with the little fishies and ducks with kayaks cruising past.

Also, when my friend Jessica comes in early September we are planning a naval getaway on an overnight ship across the Baltic to Tallinn, Estonia for a long weekend. So exciting! It is medeival and, I here, really wonderful.

We are off to Norway with my Mom next week. We will be there for 10 days and return the end of August. We will be based in Bergen and take day trips from there, as well as have three days in Oslo. I hear the fjords are amazing! We will also take a train from Bergen to Oslo which people say is one of the most beautiful rail trips in Europe.

Wow, you guys have done so much this summer. We moved and got a cat, not so much adventure. Ahh the job search, I understand. The best option I've got is at the John Innes center in Norwich, UK and I just submitted a grant last week. Not so many interesting academic jobs that fill the criteria of great place to live and plenty of jobs for Jason. Oh well, might have to join the industry circus next year.

Glad to see you're all having so much fun.
