Thoughts from the dark side

It just feels dark, dark, dark here. Last weekend we were biking home a 3:00 pm and it was almost dark. The weather was beautiful while light (the above pixs are at the park earlier the same day), but it is such a short day and such a loooooooooooooong night. We are thankful that there are two indoor play areas in our building to entertain. I think Saniya, Rowan and I will be frequenting them quite a bit over the winter.

We missed Thanksgiving. We did not even celebrate it. The thought of getting all the ingredients but felt like more work that it was worth. We thought we would just make up for it next year if we are back in the U.S.

We are enjoying the Cristmas season here though. It is definitely a holiday atmosphere. We went to see Santa last weekend(same day as the park pixs above)at NK department store. They have an elaborate window display as well. So, that was fun. It is nice to be away from the consumer frenzy of the U.S. It feels festive here, but not a push to buy or celebrate a certain way. One big thing here in most restaurants is the Julbord. This translates to "Christmas table". There are traditional foods, mostly fish related, so we are planning to enjoy lots of traditional foods. Rob will have 11 days off over Christmas and New Years. We have no big plans. We are planning a few trips in the Spring so we are saving for that. One trip is to take a ship (yes Jessica, just like our ship!) to Riga, Latvia for a long weekend. Also, we plan to spend a week biking in Holland visitng their tulips in the country and their museums in Amsterdam.

I will try to write a little more often. Rob has the computer alot lately. He will be in France the later part of this week. Anyways....
