Lucia Pixs

This holiday is all about singing in a procession with candles to celebrate the night. All nursery and school age children sing. After we have special Lucia buns, made with saffron, and gingerbread cookies. We took lots of video so the pictures were limited. The choice is to be a santa, gingerbread person, Lucia (white dress with the crown of lights), or "stjärngossar" (star boy).

As you can see Rowan's class were all Santa's and a few Lucia's. They were seated and the lights were out and the singing was really cute while all of the parents watched. After the "performance" we ate and talked.

Saniya's class had a beautiful procession. They entered the room and sang in the dark with their candles showing the way. They were great at singing. After we went to their classroom and everyone ate and played.

It is great to experience a new holiday. I feel like we gave up Thanksgiving and replaced it with Lucia for the duration of our Sweden adventure.

After school we went downtown to see a procession of the "Lucia of Stockholm". There was a light dusting of snow and was a beautiful winter night. Although, as both kids were falling asleep and not so "festive" we came home and saw the procession pass while on the bus. Then, when home we discovered Rowan had a temperature and has been sick since. Ahhhh, the life of a kid and the parents that go with the kid.

This weekend we will get our tree from a garden, called Ulriksdal Tradgard. It is associated with the palace of the same name. It is a beautiful and relaxing swedish type place. It is similar to Rosendal's for those of you that know that.

Ok, take care.
